In the ranking of the main Italian wineries by turnover, there are 40 cooperatives (out of a total of 117), which have a turnover of 3,7 billion euros, with a share equal to 42% of the total turnover of the sample. In detail, the cooperatives hold 34% of the turnover generated by exports, a share that rises to 52% if we consider the turnover on the domestic market of the Top100 wineries.
These are some of the main data relating to the economic performance of cooperatives presented today in Milan, during a press conference organised by Confcooperative Fedagripesca, by Anna DiMartino, author of the annual ranking of the top 100 Italian wineries. In the latest elaboration of 2023, the sample of companies that entered the survey represents 8,9 billion euros in turnover, equal to 62% of the national wine market, 66% of total exports.
“The incidence of cooperatives in the top positions of the ranking has remained constant over the last five years”, commented the president of Confcooperative Fedagripesca Charles Piccinini. “The dimensional aspect of our associates is confirmed as fundamental, in addition to the lever of aggregation, as demonstrated by some recent cases of mergers and consolidations of cooperatives that have made them stronger and more competitive on the market”.
