ALDI SÜD Group has acquired a minority stake, the value of which has not been disclosed, in DALI, a Philippine chain specializing in hard discount stores with over 1.300 stores in the country. The transaction will enable the German group to support the brand's next phase of expansion, which serves more than one million customers daily and aims to strengthen its presence in new neighborhoods and provinces, including communities still underserved by modern retail.

Neither the amount of the investment nor the stake acquired by ALDI SÜD were disclosed. It was noted that DALI will continue to be managed independently by its local management, which will retain full responsibility for operations in the Philippines. The agreement combines the Philippine retailer's rapid regional growth with ALDI SÜD's experience in the hard discount model, which is based on operational efficiency, a select assortment, and consistently competitive prices.

"DALI has quickly built a significant hard discount business. The Philippines is a high-growth market with strong demand for quality food products at low prices, and DALI is well-positioned to meet this need on a large scale," said Marcus Almeling, CFO and member of the Executive Board of ALDI SÜD Group.

Almeling emphasized that the operation in the Philippines is a long-term one, through which the German group intends to support DALI in its development, without directly assuming leadership of the company.

Built around a business proposition focused on essential products and proximity to consumers, DALI has already created nearly 10 jobs in stores, distribution centers, and administrative offices. The company also collaborates with hundreds of Filipino suppliers, including farmers, small manufacturing businesses, and larger producers, contributing to the growth of a supply chain deeply rooted in the local economy.

"DALI exists because Filipino families deserve a shopping experience tailored to their needs, with transparent pricing, essential products, and stores in the neighborhoods that need it most," said Regie dela Cruz, Director of Administration and Treasury at DALI Everyday Grocery. She said the addition of ALDI SÜD will accelerate the opening of new stores, create additional jobs, and strengthen the national supply chain, supporting the development of the communities where the brand operates.

ALDI SÜD currently operates over 7.500 stores in eleven countries, indirectly expanding its reach in an Asian market considered to have high potential. For DALI, the new financial and industrial support represents a tool to expand its network into a growing number of barangays and provinces, increasing Filipino families' access to affordable groceries and everyday products. Future expansion is expected to generate new jobs, strengthen partnerships with local suppliers, and further consolidate the hard discount model in the Philippine market.
