The De Cecco Group is taking a strategic step in the canned food sector by announcing the signing of a binding agreement to acquire 100% of the share capital of RossoGargano, a Foggia-based company specializing in the production and processing of tomatoes and canned vegetables.
The transaction, announced by F.lli De Cecco di Filippo – Fara San Martino, involves one of the leading Italian companies in the sector, active in the integrated management of the tomato supply chain by coordinating the activities of its member suppliers. RossoGargano oversees every stage of the process, from crop planning to industrial processing, all the way to product marketing on national and international markets.
For De Cecco, this acquisition will further strengthen its presence in the canned goods sector, benefiting from direct control of the entire production chain and recently renovated facilities featuring high technological and logistical standards.
The Abruzzo-based company also emphasizes that RossoGargano has been successfully operating for years in some of the major foreign markets where the De Cecco group already operates, thus creating important commercial and production synergies. Completion of the transaction remains subject to obtaining the necessary regulatory authorizations and is expected to be completed by next July.
Great satisfaction was expressed by the group's president, Filippo Antonio De Cecco, who defined the agreement as "an operation of great strategic importance", destined to complete and strengthen the company's production chain and improve profitability in a segment already successfully managed.
According to the company's estimates, the integration of RossoGargano and the launch of new production lines will enable significant growth in the group's size. Total sales volumes are expected to increase from the 2,7 million quintals forecasted in 2026 to 4,5 million quintals in 2027. Concurrently, consolidated revenue is expected to grow from €740 million to approximately €1 billion in just one year.
The transaction is part of a broader business plan that calls for total investments of €250 million between 2025 and 2029, of which approximately €100 million has already been completed. On the financial front, Intesa Sanpaolo, through its IMI Corporate & Investment Banking Division, acted as underwriting bank, providing the resources necessary to complete the acquisition.
De Cecco was assisted by Gatti Pavesi Bianchi Ludovici for legal matters, while the RossoGargano partners were advised by Dr. Francesco Ciampo for financial and tax matters and by Xperta Partners Legal for the legal aspects of the transaction. With this acquisition, the Abruzzo-based group further strengthens its vertical integration strategy, consolidating its presence throughout the entire agri-food supply chain.
