Grupo Fuertes, owner of ElPozo Alimentación, has acquired Jamones Albarracín, a company based in the province of Teruel specializing in the salting, drying, and curing of hams. This transaction allows the Spanish group to enter the contract processing sector, while strengthening its core business through the addition of new production capacity and specialized expertise. The acquisition will also enable ElPozo Alimentación to develop its "Proyecto Jamón" (Jamon Project), identified as one of the company's strategic pillars for future growth.

Grupo Fuertes plans to make new investments to expand and modernize the Jamones Albarracín facilities, aiming to increase the production capacity of the curing facilities. Founded 25 years ago and owned by the Dobón family, Jamones Albarracín has three production centers and can process up to four million pieces.

The company operates in all the main stages of the ham processing process, from salting to drying and curing, and holds IFS and BRC international certifications for quality and food safety. Following the acquisition, Jamones Albarracín will continue to operate as usual and offer contract processing services to both current and future customers.

Grupo Fuertes will also maintain the support of the current corporate team, leveraging their years of experience in the sector. The Teruel-based company's entry is part of the Spanish group's growth and diversification strategy in the food industry.

The announcement comes approximately two months after the acquisition of Tovalsa and Paasa, announced on July 30, which entered the chicken production and distribution sector for Grupo Fuertes. The two companies, headquartered in Casas Ibáñez and Albacete, respectively, have been in business for over 50 years and operate in poultry farming, processing, and marketing.

With these operations, Grupo Fuertes has expanded its scope to include numerous stages of the supply chain, from feed production to incubation, and even the management of farms for growing and fattening the animals. The group has also integrated its chicken slaughtering, cutting, and distribution operations, thus gaining the ability to manage the entire production cycle.

This structure should strengthen control and traceability of the supply chain, from breeding to product marketing. The acquisitions of Jamones Albarracín, Tovalsa, and Paasa thus confirm Grupo Fuertes's commitment to consolidating its historic businesses while gradually diversifying into the Spanish food market.
