Luca Visconti joins Tonitto 1939 as the new Director of the Industrial Area, strengthening the management of the historic Genoese company specializing in the production of sorbets, sugar-free ice creams, and products dedicated to new consumer trends, such as the vegan and High Protein lines.
The appointment is part of a phase of growth and transformation for the Ligurian company, which is pursuing a major investment program aimed at increasing production efficiency and supporting business expansion. With over thirty years of experience in the food and consumer goods sectors, Visconti brings a professional background developed at some of the industry's leading international companies.
For nearly three decades, he worked at Danone, where he held positions of increasing responsibility, leading technological innovation, automation, and industrial development projects across a European network of 18 production plants. He subsequently served as Industrial Director at Granarolo, overseeing five production sites and over 600 employees. He then joined Dole Italy as General Manager of Dole 5000.
In his new role, Visconti will be responsible for the entire industrial area of Tonitto 1939, including production, supply chain, purchasing, engineering, and quality. The goal will be to support the company's growth through greater integration of operational functions, improved production performance, and strengthening the industrial structure.
The arrival of the new manager coincides with a particularly significant phase for the company. Tonitto 1939 has launched an investment plan of approximately €3 million to modernize its Genoa plant and increase production capacity. Among the projects already completed is a new packaging line that has increased productivity by 30%.
The program also includes initiatives dedicated to in-line quality control, waste reduction, strengthening HSE activities, enhancing ERP systems, introducing continuous improvement programs, and reorganizing the logistics of the operational headquarters, while also accommodating the expansion of the offering and growing demand from large-scale retail trade.
"In Tonitto 1939, I've found a company with a strong identity, a clear vision for growth, and a genuine desire to invest in its future," said Luca Visconti. "My goal will be to leverage the experience I've gained in international contexts to help build an increasingly integrated and efficient industrial organization capable of supporting the company's growth, without losing the focus on quality that is one of the brand's hallmarks."
The new director's appointment is part of the company's strategy to combine technological investments with strengthening managerial and organizational skills.
"Luca Visconti's arrival represents a significant step for Tonitto 1939," commented Massimiliano Dovo, co-owner of the company. "We are investing in facilities, processes, and innovation, but we are convinced that technology alone is not enough: we need skills, experience, and a vision capable of driving change. Luca brings with him a professional background built in leading international companies, and his contribution will be crucial to sustaining the growth we intend to continue to manage with ambition, while maintaining the quality, agility, and identity that characterize our family business."
