Walmart is once again making changes to its management structure. Kieran Shanahan is stepping down as chief operating officer of the US division after nearly thirty years at the company. He will remain until the end of the fiscal year as an advisor to Walmart USA CEO David Guggina.
Effective immediately, responsibility for operations has been transferred to Kyle Kinnard, who has been named executive vice president and COO of Walmart USA. Kinnard has been with the company for over 25 years and previously served as operations manager at Walmart International.
In his new role, Kinnard will also continue to chair the board of directors of Walmart Mexico and Central America. This appointment signals the retailer's commitment to maintaining close ties between the U.S. market and its international operations, transferring expertise and operating models across its various divisions.
Kinnard's move has brought further movement to the organization. Juan Galarraga has been promoted to executive vice president and regional general manager for Latin America within Walmart International. Having joined the group in 2024, Galarraga was previously responsible for accelerating and supporting the US operations.
Walmart will now need to identify a new leader for its global platform acceleration team, an appointment expected in the coming weeks.
