In the panorama of large-scale Spanish consumption, where strategic movements are often accompanied by great speeches, ALDI he continues advancing with his own style: discreet, methodical and extraordinarily coherent. The news of 2025 and the expansion plan announced for 2026 confirm that the German chain has entered a new phase of maturity in the Spanish market, more oriented towards consolidating its position than pursuing volume for the same reason.

At the end of 2025, ALDI will operate in Spain with 496 supermarkets, more of 549.000 square meters of commercial space and an organization that surpasses them 8.000 employees. Figures which, by themselves, do not fully explain the phenomenon, but which are felt if they come to a key point: Cases 8 million Spanish hogarees buy it at ALDI, and close to 4 out of 10 consumers they declare to return to the habitual way of learning. In a highly competitive and tough market, this type of penetration is not random.

The year 2025 has reached, also, with the incorporation of more than 400.000 new customers, an especially significant result takes place in the context: more contained inflation, extremely rational consumers, strong promotional pressure and a competence - both national and international - that gives no respite. In this scenario, ALDI has strengthened its proposition without modifying its ADN: carefully controlled, solid own brand, stable prices and increased attention to proper quality.

Sobre estas bases se apoya el expansion plan for 2026, which prevented the opening of 40 new supermarkets. It is not a homogeneous or indiscriminate growth, but clearly selective. Cataluña, Andalucía, Comunidad de Madrid and Comunidad Valenciana will concentrate more than half of the new openings, confirming the focus on areas of high population density and high consumption rotation. At the same time, the chain continues to refine its territorial coverage with inversions in regions such as Canarias, Baleares, Aragón, Murcia, Vasco and Cantabria, where the modern design format continues to gain space in front of more traditional models.

The first openings of the year, scheduled for black finals in Barcelona and in S'Arenal (Mallorca), also have a symbolic value: they represent the beginning of an exercise which, more than marking a quantitative leap, aims to strengthen the industrial and commercial credibility del proyecto ALDI en España.

From an strategic perspective, the positioning of the cadena is particularly interesting. While the Spanish market continues to be led by large-scale national operators and other discounters accelerate in terms of number of stores, ALDI seems to be apostatizing for a more silent growth, based on operational efficiency, cost discipline and a very fine reading of the post-inflation consumer. The fire is not allowed to cook quickly, until it gain relevance.

The Spanish consumer from 2025–2026 is only looking for the lowest price, up to a more complete solution: convenience, confidence, constant quality and the absence of surprises. In this area, the ALDI model fits with surgical precision. Don't do it in the show, do it in consistency.

For the next few years, the green light will not be much more than surpassing the barrier of the 500 supermarkets - a success that is practically assured - as well as maintaining the coherence of the model intact in an environment where the competitive pressure will continue to intensify. What ALDI has demonstrated in Spain is that you can grow without losing your identity. In contemporary European retail, this is probably the most solid form to grow.
