The Gender Equality Certification, which represents the fifth of the 17 goals set by the UN for sustainable development and the focus of Mission no. 5 of the Italian PNRR (inclusion and cohesion), not only measures and certifies the state of gender equality of companies, but also establishes a system of progressive and continuous improvement thanks to specific qualitative and quantitative indicators, measured year after year, in order to achieve four main objectives: strengthening the role of women, social inclusion, promoting parenthood and the conciliation of work-life times.
Offering equal opportunities in the workplace has always been a priority mission for Autogrill, where today 68,6% of employees are women. The company believes that the development of a cultural model that promotes gender equality, in addition to creating social value, is the basis for the development of an increasingly sustainable business, engaging through ad hoc initiatives, in line with the Journey Sustainably On sustainability framework. Among these, for example, membership since 2012 of Valore D, an Italian association of large companies that aims to promote and concretely support female leadership, and membership in the Il Giorno Dopo Ucraina project, thanks to which four Ukrainian women fleeing the war were placed to work in some Autogrill stores. Among the most recent projects, there is also the partnership with Includere per crescere, an initiative promoted by ELIS, a non-profit organization that promotes innovation and training projects together with large groups and start-ups, which aims to integrate people with previous professional experience into companies who, due to need or fragility, are excluded from the world of work.
The UNI/PdR 125:2022 Certification issued by IMQ, an international certifier, identifies 6 specific thematic areas on which companies are measured through specific qualitative and quantitative KPIs. The areas have different weights and are: culture and strategy (15%), Governance (15%), HR processes – recruiting, salary review, development, training, work life balance, parenthood – (10%), growth opportunities and inclusion of women in the company (20%), gender pay equity (20%) and, finally, protection of parenthood and work-life balance (20%). To access the certification procedure, it is required to set up a Steering Committee that meets periodically, implement a Gender Equality Policy, define a responsible figure, with organizational and gender skills, who coordinates the adoption of the Policy in the company and create a specific strategy: actions that Autogrill has already implemented and that are an integral part of the company policy.
The UNI/PdR 125:2022 Certification is valid for three years and is subject to annual monitoring by the Certification Body.
