The Agriculture Committee of the Chamber expressed a favorable opinion regarding the 2025 Budget Law, suggesting a structural revision of the excise duties on beer produced in Italy.
From 1 January 2025, excise duties should be permanently reduced to 2,97 cents per degree Plato. In addition, a greater reduction in excise duties is expected for small producers: 50% for those producing up to 10 thousand hectoliters per year, 30% for a production between 10 thousand and 30 thousand hectoliters, and 20% for breweries with a production between 30 thousand and 60 thousand hectoliters. This intervention has received the appreciation of Unionbirrai, an association that represents small independent craft breweries.
