Carrefour strengthens its presence in Argentina with the acquisition of Super A

Carrefour has announced the purchase of the chain Super A in Argentina, based in the province of Mendoza, in the west of the country. The transaction, the value of which has not been disclosed, concerns 16 points of sale which will become part of the Carrefour network starting in September. The acquired branches will take on the name Crossroads Express, after a process of adapting its image and services. In this way, the French company is accelerating the growth of its proximity format, which has become a cornerstone of its commercial strategy in recent years.

“With the purchase of these new branches we have already doubled the number of openings planned for this year,” he declared. David Collas, executive director of Carrefour Argentina, emphasizing the solidity of the business model in the local market. The operation also includes the absorption of 60 Super A employees, which are added to the approximately 17.000 workers already employed by Carrefour in the country.

The acquisition is part of the 2025-2027 expansion plan, with which Carrefour will invest 300 million dollars in Argentina. The project includes the opening of 100 new stores and the creation of about 2.500 jobs, further strengthening the French chain's position in the food retail sector. With this move, Carrefour consolidates its presence in Mendoza and relaunches its development strategy nationwide, focusing on consumer proximity and employment.
