In 2023, Conad has confirmed its position as leader in the Large-Scale Retail Trade (GDO) in Italy. According to the report unanimously approved by the Assembly, Conad closed the year with a turnover exceeding 20 billion euros, marking an increase of 8,11% compared to the previous year.
Despite a context of declining consumption and a significant inflation rate, Conad has achieved a 15,01% market share in the Hyper + Super + Discount channels (source: Nielsen Largo Consumo Guide). This data consolidates the position achieved in 2022 (14,96%) and confirms Conad's leadership in the supermarket channel with a share of 23,49%. The system's Aggregate Net Worth reached 3,49 billion euros, marking a growth of 7,4% compared to 2022.
The Distributor Brand (MDD) has played a crucial role in supporting the overall growth of the System, representing 33,2% of the total packaged consumer goods in Italy in the supermarket channel. Furthermore, over a third of the products sold under the Conad banner are own brand, with Conad MDD products ranking first or second in sales in 75% of the product categories.
These results led to a turnover of 6 billion euros for Conad brand products in 2023, with an increase of 12,9% compared to the previous year. Conad also approved an investment plan of 1,7 billion euros for the three-year period 2024-2026, focused on five strategic pillars: efficiency, channeling, digitalization, skills development and sustainability, the latter always central to the Group's strategy "Sosteniamo il Futuro".
The sales network includes 3.331 points of sale and 394 concept stores, serving large cities, neighborhoods and small villages in 107 Italian provinces. Thanks to this multi-channel strategy, Conad maintains market leadership in six regions: Abruzzo, Calabria, Emilia-Romagna, Lazio, Sardinia and Umbria.
