Maiora, a company operating in Central and Southern Italy with the Despar and Altasfera brands in the large-scale retail and cash & carry channels, has obtained Italian certification for Gender Equality according to UNI/PdR 125:2022, issued by the accredited body Si Cert Italy. This recognition confirms the company's commitment to an organizational model based on equity, inclusion, and respect.
In 2022, Maiora established itself as a pioneer, becoming the first company in large-scale retail trade and Southern Italy to obtain the Equal Salary certification, developed by the Maiora Foundation with the University of Geneva. This certification confirmed the absence of pay gaps between men and women with equal qualifications and roles.
With approximately 2.900 employees, 47% of whom are women, the company has established a Gender Equality Steering Committee, responsible for analyzing indicators, promoting initiatives, and managing inclusion projects. During the certification process, Si Cert Italy evaluated HR processes, women's career strategies, welfare policies, and anti-discrimination measures. Obtaining the UNI/PdR 125:2022 certification represents a new milestone in a journey that has seen Maiora transform into a Benefit Corporation and achieve "Top Employer" recognition since 2023.
"This achievement," says Grazia de Gennaro, Board Member with responsibility for Communications, Sustainability, and Diversity, "demonstrates how Maiora's corporate culture, founded on fairness and equal opportunity, is an integral part of our DNA. It's a commitment that drives us to improve the well-being and empowerment of our employees every day."
