Fortenova has taken a further step in reorganizing its portfolio and formally accepted the binding offer presented by Bosqar Invest for the acquisition of 100% of Pik Vrbovec, a key asset in the Croatian meat industry. The agreement between the parties now provides for the finalization of the purchase agreement and the closing of the transaction, which is subject to the buyer's completion of financing and the receipt of the necessary regulatory approvals. The divestment is part of Fortenova's strategy of gradually exiting from agricultural activities, initiated in recent years, with the aim of focusing resources on businesses less exposed to primary production and with a greater service and distribution component.

According to CEO Fabris Peruško, the sale of Pik Vrbovec is consistent with this repositioning, considering the company's strong ties to the agricultural supply chain, but also a careful transition to industrial and employment continuity. Pik Vrbovec is a key player in the Croatian agri-food ecosystem, equipped with the most advanced slaughterhouse in the region and highly integrated meat processing facilities, with high technological, IT, and hygiene standards and constantly monitored processes. The company collaborates directly with over 100 local farms and with operations in Belje, establishing itself as the leading domestic pork processor, ensuring traceability throughout all stages of production. Commercially, it exports to approximately 20 countries and holds the HR 10 export registration number, which allows access to even the most demanding international markets.

The product portfolio is also supported by significant certifications and awards, such as the "Proven Quality from Croatia" label, the "Meat from Croatian Farms" designation, and the "Number 1 Ham" positioning, as well as a recent patent for the production of meat without added phosphates. With approximately 1.500 employees and a recent return to profitability, Pik presents itself as an asset with significant development potential, a factor that strengthens its industrial attractiveness. For Bosqar Invest, the transaction represents a strategic step in building an integrated agri-food platform in Central and Southeastern Europe through its Future Food division.

The latter already includes the Slovenian group Panvita and the bakery player Mlinar and, with the addition of Pik, would further strengthen integration along the supply chain and geographical presence. President Darko Horvat emphasized how the geopolitical context, marked by international tensions, has brought food security back to the forefront, making investments in production capacity and supply chain resilience strategic. Within this framework, Bosqar aims to create a platform capable of consolidating regional production and improving supply stability in Croatia and neighboring markets. The transaction, which will be financed through market instruments, thus confirms two complementary directions: on the one hand, Fortenova continues to rationalize its scope, on the other, Bosqar accelerates the construction of an integrated agri-food hub with regional-scale ambitions.
