Pastificio Granoro has joined "Filiera Pasta," an initiative promoted by Filiera Italia and presented to the Ministry of Agriculture, aimed at supporting the production of 100% Italian-quality pasta. The project, involving producers and farmers, aims to combat the delocalization of production and protect Italy's leading position in the pasta industry, threatened by countries with lower production costs. The initiative also aims to combat the phenomenon of "Italian sounding" by promoting the quality of raw materials and production processes.
Pastificio Granoro, based in Corato (BA), is already active in the supply chain with the "Dedicato" project, launched in 2010 to engage Apulian grain producers in the production of high-quality durum wheat. This supply chain model guarantees producers a fixed price for their wheat, with additional premiums for quality. Currently, the "Dedicato" supply chain involves more than 350 Apulian farms, producing approximately 25.000 tons of durum wheat annually and enabling the production of 13.000 tons of pasta.
Marina Mastromauro, CEO of Granoro, highlighted the importance of direct agreements with growers, which provide a higher-than-market price and technical support to ensure quality supplies. The supply chain approach aims to reduce the number of intermediaries, promote fair value distribution, and foster innovation in local grain growing through agronomic research.
