Fabrizio Gavelli Appointed New CEO of Ferrero

Ferrero is accelerating its industrial strategy in the ice cream segment and announcing a major production reorganization in Spain. The Piedmontese group will invest 140 million euro for the modernization of the Ice Cream Factory Comaker (ICFC) plant in Alzira, in the Valencian Community, destined to become the new European technology hub for ice cream development.

The project includes the expansion of production capacity, the introduction of advanced technologies, the digitalisation of processes and the installation of new lines before 2030. At the same time, Ferrero confirms that private label production will cease in the plant by the end of the 2026, to concentrate the factory entirely on branded products.

The Alzira site will therefore become central to the growth of Ferrero's ice cream range in Europe, which in recent years has seen the launch of products dedicated to brands such as Nutella, Rocher, and Kinder. This move is part of a long-term development plan aimed at strengthening the company's presence in the packaged ice cream market, a segment in which Ferrero is continuously investing.

The company specifies that the transformation will not have an impact on employment: all employees will be confirmed, both in the offices and in production, although with the possibility of new roles and responsibilities within the restructured structure. The reorganization concerns Alzira only: the other European ice cream plants will continue to operate unchanged.

Ferrero acquired a majority stake in the ICFC site in 2019, completing the integration two years later. The transaction follows a series of global industrial investments: last April, the group announced 445 million Canadian dollars to expand the production hub in Brantford, Ontario, with new lines dedicated to Nutella Biscuits and Ferrero Rocher Chocolate Squares. In addition, approximately 2024 has been allocated 170 million euro for the upgrade of the German plant in Stadtallendorf.
