Asda has today announced that Jo Whitfield has joined the board as a non-executive director. She returns to Asda after holding a number of leadership roles from 2008 to 2016, including operations, e-commerce and Asda Money & Mobile. She subsequently served as CEO at the Co-op and Matalan. During her time at the Co-op, she was awarded a CBE for her work during the Covid-19 pandemic. With her extensive experience in the food and retail sectors, she will focus on supporting the growth of Asda Express. Allan Leighton, Asda’s executive chairman, said Jo’s deep knowledge of the sector and affinity for Asda’s mission. Whitfield is also committed to inclusivity and mentoring and will be a great asset to the leadership team.
