Agromonte, an Italian company specializing in the production of cherry tomato sauces, reported a positive 2024 despite some challenging weather conditions. The company increased its use of raw materials from its own land by 35%, ensuring a short and sustainable supply chain. This approach allows tomatoes to be processed within 24 hours of harvesting. Furthermore, the decision to focus on a zero-mile supply chain reduces environmental impact, limiting emissions related to transportation and optimizing logistics processes.
Throughout the year, Agromonte enjoyed a high-quality harvest, albeit 30% lower than expected due to drought. However, the cherry tomatoes achieved a high Brix level, making them particularly suitable for the production of sauces and purées.
