Leclerc remains leader in France, Carrefour soars thanks to Cora and loyalty

Leclerc confirms its position as the leading French distributor with a market share of 24,6% (+0,2 points compared to the previous month), according to the latest Kantar data for the P6 2025 period, which ended on June 15. Growth is driven by increased purchase frequency and an increasingly regular clientele. Stable performance of e-commerce E.Leclerc Internet.

Excellent results also for Carrefour, which with the integration of the Cora hypermarkets and a winning loyalty strategy, gained 2,1 points reaching a 21,8% share. Only the Carrefour brand gained 1,4 points reaching 11,4%, thanks to one million new families. Carrefour Iper contributed 1,2 points, Internet 0,2. Carrefour Proximité also did well, growing to 2,9%, while Carrefour Market lost 0,2 points, despite 188 thousand new customers.

Groupement Les Mousquetaires reached 17,6% (+0,8), with Intermarché at 14,3% (+0,5), driven by new customers and improved loyalty. Coopérative U grew by 0,4 points to 12,3% share. Lidl advanced to 8%, supported by larger shopping carts, despite losing 285 families. Aldi grew to 2,8% thanks to a more frequent average receipt.

Auchan is down (-0,1 points to 8,7%), penalized by closures in the Schiever group and a decline in hypermarkets. Casino is also doing badly, losing 0,2 points to 3%: Franprix and Monoprix are both down 0,1.

Overall, FMCG spending grew by 2,4% and the proximity channel gained 0,3 points to 8,1%, thanks to over 1,4 million new families. Online rose to 10,9% (+0,3) and discount stores to 11,6% (+0,1). Hypermarkets and supermarkets, on the other hand, fell, penalized by lower purchase volumes.
