Lidl Italy strengthens its presence in the Turin area with the inauguration of its new Alpignano location at Via Venaria 29, officially opened to the public this morning. The new store replaces the historic supermarket opened in 2000 on the same street, marking a generational transition under the banner of innovation, energy efficiency, and urban regeneration. Mayor Steven Giuseppe Palmieri also attended the opening ceremony. The inauguration of the new facility has brought the addition of three new employees, adding to a national workforce of over 23.000. This confirms the brand's role as a significant player in terms of employment.
The new supermarket covers approximately 1.500 square meters of sales space and was created by renovating an existing building, with a zero-land consumption approach. This design choice is consistent with the group's environmental strategies, which aim to reduce environmental impact and enhance existing urban areas. The building is certified A4 energy class and uses exclusively renewable energy sources. It features a 121 kWp photovoltaic system and an integrated LED lighting system with natural light, resulting in an estimated energy savings of up to 50% compared to traditional solutions.
The project also included urban development works for the benefit of the community: a parking lot with approximately 150 spaces and an electric vehicle charging station, a new bike path, a sidewalk, and street lighting along the road adjacent to the store. From a retail perspective, the store offers a wide assortment of everyday items, with a focus on fresh produce, an in-store bakery, and a rotisserie area. Certified vegetarian and vegan products, premium brands, and lines showcasing Italian gastronomic tradition are also available, alongside a selection of non-food items. Completing the shopping experience, integration with the Lidl Plus app provides access to personalized promotions and digital tools. The store is open Monday through Saturday from 8:00 am to 21:30 pm and Sunday from 8:00 am to 21:00 pm.
