Lidl is strengthening its network in Spain with five openings in October, covering over 6.600 square meters of retail space and creating more than 100 new jobs. The supermarkets are located in Catalonia, the Valencian Community, Galicia, Andalusia, and Madrid and are part of a plan that calls for investments exceeding €440 million in the 2026 fiscal year, which began March 1 and ends February 28, 2027.

The program includes over 60 initiatives across the retail network, including approximately 50 new stores and expansion and modernization of existing stores. The strategy prioritizes islands and large urban centers, complementing supermarket development with the strengthening of logistics infrastructure.

The first of five openings took place on October 8th in Llinars del Vallès, in the province of Barcelona. The supermarket, located at the intersection of Ronda de Sant Antoni and Avenida Mas Bagà, has 1.300 square meters of sales space and approximately 100 parking spaces, with three electric vehicle charging points.

On October 15th, the new store will open in Pilar de la Horadada, in the province of Alicante, where it will cover approximately 1.500 square meters and have a parking lot for around 100 spaces. This store will also be equipped with three charging stations, and Sunday openings will be planned during Easter Week and the summer months.

On October 22, Lidl will open its first supermarket in the Fisterra area in Cee, in the province of A Coruña. Located in the Galician town's business park, the store will have over 1.200 square meters of space and approximately 120 parking spaces. The opening will contribute to expanding the chain's coverage in Galicia, with service also available on Sunday mornings.

Two openings are scheduled for October 29th. In Vélez-Málaga, the new supermarket on Calle Carrera de las Angustias will offer 1.550 square meters of sales space and approximately 100 parking spaces, part of the company's expansion plan in the Axarquía region and the province of Málaga.

On the same day, the store at Calle de San Bernardo 95, in the center of Madrid, will open. With over 1.000 square meters of retail space and continuous hours from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., seven days a week, the store will strengthen the brand's presence in the capital's urban fabric.

The assortment will include fresh produce, from fruit and vegetables to meat and fish, bread and baked goods, as well as refrigerated and packaged foods and beverages. Regional products from local suppliers will also be available, along with personal care, household cleaning, and non-food items.

The relationship with the Spanish agri-food supply chain is a significant component of the chain's business. According to company data, Lidl collaborates with approximately 800 domestic suppliers, from whom it purchases products worth over €8,4 billion annually, more than half of which is exported.

Commercial growth is accompanied by a strengthening of logistics, with the opening of facilities in Martorell, in the province of Barcelona. The company describes this project as the largest logistics investment in Spain in its more than thirty years of presence in the country.

The Spanish subsidiary currently has more than 730 stores, 14 logistics hubs, and over 20.000 employees. The new openings in October are part of a growth strategy that combines increased territorial coverage, urban network development, and distribution capacity to support sales volumes.
