Lidl Italia continues its expansion plan across the country by inaugurating two new supermarkets today in Trescore Balneario (BG) and Induno Olona (VA). These two investments strengthen the brand's presence in Northern Italy and bring the total 49 new jobs, confirming the chain's role as one of the leading employers in the retail sector, with over 23.000 employees in the country.
In Trescore Balneario, the new sales point is located in Via Nazionale, less than a month after opening in Stezzano. The store boasts a sales area of over 1.400 square meters and a 170-space parking lot. The project involved the demolition of an old industrial building, replacing it with a modern and efficient structure without further land use. The building is energy class A3, powered by 100% renewable energy, and features a 185 kW photovoltaic system, as well as LED lighting and large windows to maximize natural light. The company also installed new plantings and an underpass for crossing Via Copernico.
In Induno Olona, in Bidino StreetLidl is opening its first city store, the sixteenth in the province of Varese, the result of an urban regeneration project that has revitalized a former industrial area abandoned for over ten years. The new store, with a 1.500 square meter sales area, was built to energy efficiency class A4 and uses exclusively renewable energy. Among the technologies introduced are a 184 kWp photovoltaic system, LED lighting, and an underground drainage system for rainwater collection. The parking lot has 130 spaces. The project also included road improvements, including a new roundabout and the resurfacing of public sidewalks, as emphasized by Mayor Giorgio Castelli, who was present at the ribbon-cutting ceremony.
In view of the holidays, both stores are offering the line Deluxe, Lidl's gourmet range, and the selection Favorite, inspired by Northern European confectionery traditions and Italian classics like panettone. The products include Fairtrade and Rainforest Alliance certified ingredients, as well as free-range eggs, in line with the company's commitment to quality and sustainability. The Induno Olona store also features the "Approved by Gambero Rosso”, aimed at promoting premium products at affordable prices.
