Mondelēz International aims to become the world leader in the chocolate market by 2030. To achieve this strategic goal, the American multinational has announced an investment of 65 million Swiss francs in its historic plant in Bern, Switzerland, the production heart of the Toblerone brand.

The plan includes the creation of a global center of excellence, with the introduction of a new high-tech production line. The start-up is scheduled for autumn 2025. The project will involve an expansion of production capacity, an enhancement of chocolate and nougat production, and an upgrade of infrastructure and internal logistics.

The Bern plant has been operating since 1908 and today produces approximately 90% of the Toblerone distributed globally, with an average of 4 million pieces per day. With the new investment, Mondelēz intends to strengthen the brand's positioning in the premium segment, enhancing the quality and Swiss origin of production.

As evidence of its ties to the territory, the company has announced that the Swiss flag will be present on the packaging of Toblerone made in Bern. A symbolic and strategic choice, which aims to strengthen the brand's identity in international markets.
