The South Tyrolean apple sector has created “Alpoma”, a new Association of Producer Organisations (AOP) founded by VOG, VIP and VOG Products. The aim is to strengthen collaboration and development in the sector. “Alpoma was born from the idea of strengthening through collaboration,” said Georg Kössler, president of the new association. The AOP will coordinate research, new apple varieties and development projects with the Laimburg Research Centre. Environmental measures and investment cooperation will be strengthened, especially in processed products managed by VOG Products. “Thanks to the new entity, we will be able to better coordinate existing collaborations,” added Kössler. With a production volume of around one million tonnes of apples, alpoma represents over 6.000 producers on 18.000 hectares. Its headquarters are in the Casa della Mela in Terlano.

The name “Alpoma” refers to the Alpine region and the main product, apples. Walter Pardatscher is the director of the association. The VOG, VIP and VOG Products organizations will retain their autonomy in production and sales.
