Old Wild West, the famous burgers & steak house brand of the Cigierre group, is the first restaurant chain in Italy to introduce virtual reality in staff training courses. In collaboration with IKON Digital Farm, it has developed an immersive platform based on WebXR technology, accessible from a browser, which transforms onboarding into an engaging and innovative experience.
The project allows new employees to explore faithfully reconstructed 3D environments, from the dining room to the kitchen, to learn operating procedures, workflows and safety standards. A training that combines effectiveness, flexibility and accessibility, anywhere and at any time.
“Virtual reality allows us to offer more immediate and engaging training, improving the quality of service and supporting the growth of our staff,” said Paolo Pastore, Business Unit Manager of Old Wild West.
An initiative that fits into Cigierre's vision, attentive to the valorization of human resources: 95% of managers come from internal paths and in the two-year period 2023-2024 alone the Cigierre Academy trained 600 professionals. The project thus strengthens the strategic role of training in a group that has over 370 restaurants and 30 million customers a year.
“With Cigierre we share the belief that innovation also passes through the evolution of teaching models,” says Enrico Degrassi, CEO of IKON. “Our Immersive platform is a powerful tool for building training paths that are measurable and replicable on a large scale.”
