Ondine, the new variety of flat nectarines, is about to enter the Italian market with a summer commercial campaign in 2024. These fruits, highly selected and produced in the best Italian agricultural regions, such as Romagna and southern Italy, offer superior quality and organoleptic characteristics compared to other varieties available.
The Ondine project is part of an ambitious international club promoted by Frutaria and ASF Edition, involving four countries – Spain, France, Greece and Italy. In Italy, Agrintesa together with the business unit Alegra and Mazzoni are the main partners, with Greenyard and Naturitalia ready to enter the commercialization phase in 2026. Currently, more than 300 hectares are dedicated to the cultivation of Ondine, with the aim of exceeding 500 hectares by 2027, thus ensuring constant availability on the market during the long summer season.
Ondine stands out in the stone fruit market for its unique characteristics: flat shape, small stone, smooth and thin skin. This nectarine is ideal as a healthy and tasty snack, perfect to be consumed at any time and place. Thanks to its balanced taste that combines sweetness, crunchiness, juiciness and a hint of acidity, Ondine has won the prestigious Saveur de l'Annèe award in 2021, 2022 and 2023. Consumers have shown that they appreciate not only the flavor, but also the convenience of consumption and the quality of the product, making Ondine a favorite choice in the market.
