Esselunga presented the sixth edition of its Sustainability Plan, confirming a path that integrates innovation, social responsibility, and environmental protection. "We are convinced that economic growth is only valuable if shared with people and communities," commented Marina Caprotti, president of Esselunga.
In 2024 the company has hired approximately 4.000 new collaborators and opened sales points in Ravenna and Treviglio, consolidating its territorial presence. The program “Friends of School and Sports” exceeded 154 million euro of materials donated to schools and sports associations, a goal reached a year early.
On the front inclusion, Esselunga has introduced a new policy against harassment and bullying and started reintegration projects for women victims of violence in Atlantic Bars, in addition to training courses on inclusive leadership and generational diversity. The collaboration with Mindwork for psychological support to employees.
Commitment to the local communities translates to over 8 million euros donated to social, educational and cultural initiatives, including 1 million euro to scientific research and solidarity. Among the most significant partnerships, the one with the Turin International Book Fair, where Esselunga supports the Sala Olimpica dedicated to the relationship between sport and culture.
On the plane Environmental Sustainability, 93% of the packaging Esselunga brand is made with recycled, recyclable or compostable materials, while the program of collection of used coffee capsules he recovered 28.000 kg of material in 2024. They were also 20.000 m2 of new green areas created and installed 20 new hives within the BEE Project, for the protection of over a million bees.
