Costco Wholesale closed September with double-digit sales growth, confirming the strong performance of its operations in the United States and international markets. The US retail giant reported revenue of $30,02 billion for the five weeks ended October 4, 2026, a 13% increase compared to $26,58 billion in the same period last year. This result was driven by expanding sales at existing stores and the contribution of digital channels, which continue to outpace the growth of brick-and-mortar stores.
Comparable sales, calculated considering existing operations, increased overall by 11,4%, with particularly significant growth in the United States, where the increase reached 12,5%. In Canada, growth stood at 6,3%, while in other international markets, Costco recorded a 10,8% increase, highlighting a positive trend across the various geographic areas in which the group operates.
Adjusting for fuel price and exchange rate fluctuations, comparable sales growth decreased to 7,6% overall. In the United States, the increase was 8%, in Canada 4,9%, and in other international markets 7,7%. The difference compared to the reported figures highlights the favorable contribution of fuel and currency-related components, without however altering the picture of widespread growth in commercial activity.
Sales generated through digital channels were particularly dynamic, recording a 19% increase compared to the same period in 2025, a percentage that rises to 19,1% excluding currency effects. This figure includes purchases initiated via digital devices and subsequently processed through Costco Travel's warehouses, distribution centers, or services, confirming the growing importance of integrating physical businesses and online tools.
The company also noted that the one-week shift in Labor Day in the United States and Canada compared to last year had a positive impact of slightly more than 0,5 percentage points on total and comparable sales in September, a factor to consider when reading the results.
Costco currently operates a network of 939 wholesale locations worldwide, including 647 in the United States and Puerto Rico, 115 in Canada, and 43 in Mexico. Its international presence also includes 37 locations in Japan, 29 in the United Kingdom, 20 in South Korea, 15 in Australia, 14 in Taiwan, seven in China, five in Spain, three in France, two in Sweden, and one each in Iceland and New Zealand.
The group also operates e-commerce platforms in nine markets, including the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Mexico, Japan, and China. September's results confirm Costco's ability to maintain sustained sales growth, with significant contributions from both the North American market and international operations, while digital remains one of the most dynamic components of the group's distribution model.
