Established with the economic boom of the 1960s la prima colazione, as we know it today, has become a very important moment of the day for most Italians.
In fact, the first meal, for some the most abundant of the day, which to the almost inevitable coffee (but this is another category we have already talked about) has associated packaged products such as biscuits, rusks and, for some time in a more structured way, also cereals.
Products of a very broad category and continues expansion, also by virtue of eating habits that have evolved over time, forcing the industry and retailers to accommodate the needs and requests of consumers who are increasingly attentive to their figure, ingredients and, obviously, taste.
A world that we are going to analyze in depth with a series of articles that we have created in collaboration with Nielsen IQ and the data provided which are related to sales (AT February 24) of this entire large category.
I five articles of this special breakfast have the objective of introducing the general sales data (value, volume, packaging, inflation, promotional pressure) of this large sector, and then go into the merits of the single segments, enter into the depth of the analysis of the MDD performance and analyze the trends detailing them for each sales format and for each territory of the country.
