VOG Products, a leading fruit processor in South Tyrol, has made significant progress in sustainability, as reported in its sustainability report, titled "Keeping Our Feet on the Ground." The company has invested in key areas such as water management, energy, and climate protection, achieving tangible results. During the reporting period, water consumption was reduced by 28% thanks to the optimization of cooling systems. On the energy front, the capacity of its photovoltaic systems was increased to 1.777 kWp, resulting in a reduction of over 3.000 tons of CO2 equivalent, or 12% compared to the previous year.
VOG Products has demonstrated a strong commitment to biodiversity, implementing bee protection projects within its supply chain. Furthermore, the company has improved working conditions for its staff, strengthening ethical standards and compliance measures. Financially, it has distributed €63,5 million to its members, contributing to the support of local agriculture and the sustainable development of the region. This approach integrates the environmental, social, and economic dimensions of sustainability, with the aim of strengthening member cooperatives and promoting a resilient and innovative agricultural model.
VOG Products' long-term goals align with the United Nations' SDGs, aiming to consolidate a resource-efficient production system and promote a circular economy. For President Johannes Runggaldier, sustainability is an integral part of the farming identity and represents a path to be cultivated with solid roots. Christoph Tappeiner, the company's director, reiterates that sustainability is an ongoing mission, necessary to build a responsible future in food production.
