Several batches of bagged iceberg lettuce have been recalled from the market due to the risk of bacterial contamination from Listeria monocytogenes. The recall, which involves 19 brands, was decided following checks carried out by the competent authorities at the points of sale, which found the presence of the bacterium in products packaged in the Bellizzi plant, in the province of Salerno, by the Ortoromi company. The numbers of the affected batches are available on the Ministry of Health website, and consumers are invited to return the products to the points of sale where they were purchased.
Ortoromi has released an official note, specifying that "from the subsequent in-depth checks the investigation has been reduced to only two production lines, which is why the Company, which has always based its roots on quality and transparency, has proceeded as a precautionary measure to activate the recall procedure for only the lots involved. While waiting for the authorities to close the process, the Company reassures that all the references processed in the other production lines of the Salerno business unit are to be considered compliant with current legislation."
