Magnum Ice Cream Company (TMICC) is strengthening its industrial presence in Europe with an investment of HUF 4 billion, approximately €10 million, to modernize its plant in Veszprém, Hungary. The project, which includes the installation of a new production line, is part of the group's strategy to accelerate innovation in the ice cream category and consolidate its European manufacturing network.

The Veszprém plant, located in western Hungary, is one of the company's key production sites on the continent. Each year, it produces approximately 230 million servings of ice cream for both the domestic market and European exports, producing international brands such as Magnum, Cornetto, and Carte d'Or. Founded in 1955, the site now employs over 500 people and is one of the region's main food manufacturing hubs.

Thanks to the new investment, the plant will begin producing Magnum Bonbons, a premium mini-portion format designed to meet the growing demand for convenient, shareable snacks. The goal is to tap into new consumption opportunities, from afternoon snacks to shared desserts, thus expanding the gelato market beyond the traditional summer season.

"The gelato category is increasingly driven by innovation in formats and consumption occasions, making gelato a year-round snack option," said Péter Konecsni, General Manager East Europe and General Manager Hungary at TMICC. "Investments like this allow us to transform innovative ideas into scalable production solutions, supporting long-term growth in European markets."

According to the manager, the increased production capacity will also allow us to reliably bring innovations to market, maintaining high quality standards and responding quickly to the needs of modern distribution.

Plant Director József Török also highlighted the industrial value of the operation: "This investment strengthens our ability to manage complex production processes with precision, reliability, and continuity. It builds on the expertise of our people and allows us to ensure high levels of quality across multiple products and markets."

Headquartered in Amsterdam, TMICC posted a turnover of €7,9 billion in 2025 and operates a network of 32 production plants, 13 research and development centers, and approximately three million freezers distributed across 80 markets worldwide.

For the group, the Veszprém site represents a strategic element in transforming product innovations into large-scale production. The ability to develop a broad portfolio of products for both the domestic and export markets allows for reduced lead times and supports category growth through new formats and consumption opportunities.

The investment also confirms Hungary's role as a key production hub in TMICC's European network and reinforces a strategy aimed at combining global brand development with efficient and flexible local production, capable of responding to evolving consumer preferences and the needs of European retailers.
