Federvini, the main Italian association of wine and spirits producers, joins the European associations representing, respectively, wine producers (CEEV) and spirits producers (spiritsEUROPE), in calling on the European institutions to exclude wines and spirits from retaliatory measures that have no relevance to the ongoing trade disputes.
The application of tariffs of up to 50% on products such as American whiskey would risk further exacerbating trade tensions between Europe and the United States, endangering thousands of jobs and damaging entire production and distribution chains on both sides of the Atlantic.
Federvini hopes that the European and American institutions will find an agreement that excludes wines and spirits from the scope of tariff countermeasures, preserving a commercial relationship that has demonstrated, over time, to generate mutual benefits and strong economic exchange.
