Nestlé is strengthening its presence in the functional foods and ready-to-drink complete meals segment with the full acquisition of yfood, a leading European company specializing in smart food. The Swiss group announced it will acquire the remaining shares held by the founders of yfood Labs GmbH, completing a collaboration that began three years ago.

Nestlé had already acquired a 49% minority stake in the German company in 2023. Now, subject to customary regulatory approvals, it will acquire the remaining capital, effective July 3, 2026. The financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Founded with the goal of offering convenient and nutritionally complete meal solutions, yfood has established itself as a leading brand in the European ready-to-drink meal replacement market. The company distributes its products in 30 countries through over 50.000 stores, with a particularly strong presence in Germany.

In recent years, the brand has experienced steady growth thanks to a combination of product innovation, distribution development, and investments in brand positioning. In 2025, yfood achieved revenues of approximately €150 million, posting double-digit growth compared to the previous year.

The transaction is part of Nestlé's strategy to strengthen its offering in the nutrition, well-being, and functional foods segments, categories that continue to benefit from growing consumer interest in practical, balanced solutions suited to active lifestyles.

For yfood, fully embracing Nestlé represents the beginning of a new phase of development. The company aims to accelerate the brand's international expansion, looking beyond Europe and leveraging the Swiss giant's global sales network and industrial capabilities.

The acquisition also confirms the growing interest of large multinational food companies in the smart food market, a segment that meets the needs of consumers increasingly focused on functional, balanced, and ready-to-eat products. With full control of yfood, Nestlé secures an already established brand with significant growth prospects in international markets.
