Lidl Italy is strengthening its presence in Tuscany with the opening of its first store in the city of Arezzo, inaugurated on October 15th on Via del Gavardello, in the Setteponti district. The new supermarket, which has created 19 jobs, represents a further step in the brand's expansion plan in the region and joins the three stores already operating in the province, located in Bibbiena, San Giovanni Valdarno, and Montevarchi, the latter of which opened earlier this year. The opening ceremony was also attended by Francesco Marcantoni, Councilor for Business Development.

The new supermarket has a sales area of approximately 1.300 square meters and was created through the renovation of a former steelworks, thus avoiding the use of new land. Special attention was paid to energy efficiency and environmental sustainability, with the installation of a 131 kWp photovoltaic system and the exclusive use of electricity covered by Guarantees of Origin, certifying its origin from renewable sources. LED lighting also allows for a 50% reduction in electricity consumption compared to previous technologies.

Outside, a parking lot with approximately 120 spaces has been created, featuring a permeable, eco-friendly pavement that promotes rainwater absorption and grass growth. There are also two charging stations for electric vehicles.

"The opening of our first store in Arezzo represents a key milestone in our expansion plan, allowing us to establish a strategic hub for Lidl's growth in Tuscany," said Simone Franceschini, regional director of Lidl Italy, emphasizing the importance of the urban redevelopment projects associated with the new retail developments.

The supermarket's offerings include a produce section with fresh products, including those sourced from Italian suppliers, a bakery area with sweet and savory specialties, and a deli. The main food lines include Deluxe, dedicated to premium products, and Italiamo, which showcases Italian culinary traditions. A selection of over 170 V-Label-certified vegetarian and vegan products under the Vemondo brand is also available, including both ongoing products and temporary specials. The non-food brands PARKSIDE, CRIVIT, and SILVERCREST, dedicated to DIY, sports, and household appliances, respectively, complete the offering.

Customers can also use the Lidl Plus app, which offers personalized coupons, the Lidl Points loyalty program, and the digital flyer. The store is open Monday through Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Sunday from 8:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Present in Italy since 1992, Lidl now has over 800 supermarkets, served by 12 logistics hubs, and employs more than 24.000 people. Its national assortment includes over 3.500 products, 80% of which are own-brand products made in Italy.
