Sensormatic Solutions, part of Johnson Controls' global portfolio, introduces a new generation of people counting devices that combine re-identification (Re-ID) technology and artificial intelligence. The goal is to provide retailers with increasingly precise tools to understand visitor behavior and improve store performance.

Thanks to integration with the ShopperTrak Analytics suite, the new systems combine deep learning and video analytics to accurately capture key data such as unique visitor numbers, conversion rates, dwell times, and in-store routes. This makes it possible to distinguish between real customers, staff, and passersby, obtaining reliable and actionable metrics for strategic decisions.

"Re-ID technology allows us to further enhance traffic, a key metric for measuring retail performance," explains Nick Pompa, Vice President & Product General Manager for Shopper Experience at Sensormatic Solutions. "The advanced algorithms avoid counting irrelevant individuals and provide a clear picture of what's actually happening in the store."

A key aspect of the solution is privacy protection: the systems do not use personal information or facial recognition, but rather generic identifiers such as clothing colors, in full compliance with the GDPR.

This approach allows retailers to gain valuable insights to increase conversions, strengthen loyalty, and grow profitability, adapting their offerings and sales strategies to customer needs.

The new technology will be previewed at the first edition of NRF Europe, scheduled in Paris from 16 to 18 September, confirming Sensormatic Solutions' commitment to developing innovative solutions for the retail sector.
