Autogrill is ushering in a new era of hospitality along the Italian motorway network, expanding its offering with a special focus on pets. The first fully renovated Fido Park was unveiled today at the Villoresi Est service area on the A8 Milan-Laghi motorway: a dedicated area for dogs that combines relaxation, play, and innovation, offering a customized rest stop experience for every traveler, human or animal.
The project is the result of a collaboration with three leading pet care partners—Trixie, PetPro, and ENPA—and represents the evolution of an initiative launched by Autogrill over ten years ago. The new Fido Park is now an ecosystem designed to meet both basic needs (water, exercise, refreshments) and the need for connection and stimulation for dogs, strengthening their bond with their owners.
"We want to go beyond the concept of 'pet-friendly' and become a true ally for those traveling with pets," said Luca D'Alba, General Manager Italy F&B at Avolta. "We've listened to our customers and created a safe, stimulating, and helpful environment to make every stop a positive experience for dogs."
Among the new format's innovations: interactive signage, QR codes offering information and tips for safe travel, and the presence of PetPro dog trainers on site for personalized advice. Trixie also distributed freebies to visitors with dogs, illustrating practical solutions for pet transportation.
"A concrete initiative that's a step in the right direction," commented Giusy D'Angelo, national vice president of ENPA. "Fido Park improves animal travel conditions and helps combat abandonment, offering families practical tools for safe travel."
