Blokker continues to rebuild its network in the Netherlands. Starting in October, the home improvement chain will open five new stores in Groningen, Roosendaal, Rijssen, Hellevoetsluis, and Blerick, bringing its total to 66 locations, including 12 franchises.
The new openings follow the five stores opened in July, which the company says have yielded positive results so far. The timing is no coincidence: Blokker aims to enter the most important part of the business year with a larger physical presence.
"We're arriving just in time for the busiest time of the year," said real estate manager Riko van Kooten. The company has already begun negotiations with several property owners for additional openings in 2027.
This data takes on particular weight considering the brand's recent history. Blokker went bankrupt in November 2024, before returning to the market under the leadership of entrepreneur Roland Palmer, a member of the family historically associated with the brand.
The reconstruction is currently proceeding with a much smaller network than in the past. Blokker had exceeded 400 stores during its peak expansion years, while the new plan sets a long-term goal of 200 stores in the Netherlands.
The five autumn stores will be an important first test: they will have to demonstrate whether Blokker's return can transform from a brand relaunch operation into a true commercial reconstruction.
