Carrefour has signed an agreement to open new convenience stores in 45 Paris metro stations, targeting commuters. In partnership with Altarea and RATP, the project includes up to 136 retail spaces. The new concept, still unnamed, will offer multifunctional stores ranging from 50 to 250 square meters. In addition to groceries and fresh products, accessories, luggage lockers, concierge services and parcel collection will be available.

The initiative targets the 300 million annual passengers of the Grand Paris Express. Carrefour, with a turnover of 7,8 billion euros in 2024 from convenience stores, is strengthening its presence in the sector. The deal follows an agreement with Lagardère Travel Retail and SNCF for 150 stores in French stations by 2030. Carrefour is also testing the “Potager City” (fresh fruit and vegetables) and “Api” (self-service without staff) concepts. CEO Alexandre Bompard is banking on urban hubs and neighborhood stores to meet the demand for convenience and speed. Stations are becoming key points for Carrefour's expansion, offering services and products tailored to the needs of travelers. The new stores will offer a wide range of products and services, making life easier for commuters.
