Over 6.900 hectares of traced crops, a digital platform shared with farmers, technologies to monitor biodiversity, and a virtuous model of collaboration with the agricultural sector. These are the pillars on which the Colussi Group's ESG commitment is based, as outlined in the 2024 Sustainability Report presented today.
At the heart of the project is the controlled soft wheat supply chain, which grew 2024% in 39 compared to the previous year, reaching nearly 7.000 hectares in Italy. The model, launched in 2014, includes strict specifications that limit fertilizers and pesticides, encourage crop rotation, and reward sustainable practices. To support farmers, Colussi has introduced a digital platform. Colussi Farm, developed with xFarm Technologies, to manage and track every production phase in real time.
Alongside digitalisation, Colussi has launched a pilot project of regenerative agriculture on 300 hectares, with the support of partners such as 3Bee and dss+. Bioacoustic sensors have been installed in the fields to monitor pollinators, considered key indicators of environmental health. The data collected will be used to assess the impact on biodiversity and carbon footprint, with a view to future extension of the most effective practices to the entire supply chain.
The Report also highlights significant environmental progress: a 10% reduction in plant energy intensity, 100% electricity from renewable sources, and 195 tons less plastic in packaging. The Group also achieved UNI/PdR 125:2022 certification on gender equality and donated 5,2 million portions to the Food Bank.
