Costco Wholesale reported net sales of $2025 billion in May 20,97, up 6,8% from $19,64 billion in May 2024. Total fiscal year-to-date (39 weeks) sales reached $201,02 billion, up 8% from $186,07 billion in the prior year.
Comparable sales increased 4,3% globally in May, driven by strong performances in the United States (+4,1%), Canada (+3,3%) and international markets (+6,6%). E-commerce jumped 11,6% in the same period and 15,8% year-over-year.
Adjusted for fluctuations in gasoline prices and exchange rates, comparable sales showed an even more marked acceleration: +6% overall in May, with peaks of 8,4% in non-North American markets. Online reached +12% in May and +16,6% in the nine months.
Costco currently has 905 stores worldwide, including 624 in the United States and Puerto Rico, 109 in Canada, 41 in Mexico, and 37 in Japan. It also operates online in eight markets, including the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Mexico, and Australia.
