Ferrara Candy Company, a historic American confectionery brand, is preparing to strengthen its presence in Europe. Its European holding company has announced the start of exclusive negotiations to acquire the French group CPK, known for brands such as Carambar, Lutti, and Krema.
The transaction, announced in recent days, would see CPK pass from its current owner, Eurazeo – a French investment group – to Ferrara, which, although not formally part of the Ferrero group, operates as an affiliated entity under the same control.
The acquisition is now subject to consultation with CPK's employee representative bodies and is subject to regulatory approvals. Closing is expected in the fourth quarter of 2025.
Founded in 1908, Ferrara is a major player in the North American confectionery market, with iconic brands such as Nerds, Trolli, and Brach's. The acquisition of CPK would mark a strategic step to expand its portfolio in Europe and consolidate its presence in the candy and chewing gum segment.
