Lidl continues to strengthen its presence in Spain, becoming the fastest-growing supermarket chain since 2019 according to Kantar. With a 6,6% market share, it is now the third operator behind Mercadona and Carrefour. In 2024, it reached 7 billion euros in sales and has already opened 10 new stores, with the aim of reaching 50 by the end of the year, investing 70 million euros. The next one will open in Seville on May 16.

With over 700 stores, 13 logistics platforms and 18.500 employees, Lidl aims to grow in a “sustained and sustainable” way, choosing both urban and peripheral strategic locations. The new openings will be concentrated mainly in Andalusia, Madrid, Valencia, Catalonia, the Canary Islands and Galicia.

The company has also expanded its logistics network with a new center in Constantí and a 140 million investment in a platform in Barcelona. With an average surface area of 1.500 mXNUMX, the supermarkets offer parking, fresh products and charging for electric vehicles, adapting to the needs of the modern consumer.

Lidl is the main buyer of Spanish fruit and vegetables and its activity generates 8.600 million GDP and 180.000 jobs. However, competition remains fierce, with Mercadona, Alcampo, Dia and regional chains constantly expanding.
