Colruyt Group has received approval from the Belgian Competition Authority to complete the acquisition of 100% of Delitraiteur, a chain specializing in meal solutions that is part of the Louis Delhaize group. The agreement was announced on October 23, 2024 and the operation is fully in line with the Belgian group's growth strategy in the convenience food sector.
“Delitraiteur is a valuable addition and perfectly in line with our vision: innovation, customer centricity and attention to employees. We can now accelerate the ready meals segment and the urban presence”, said Johan Vermeire, General Manager B2B Food Retail of Colruyt Group.
Delitraiteur now has 40 stores in Belgium and one in Luxembourg, open 7 days a week and focused on over 7 fresh dishes ready to eat or reheat. Every year, around 200 recipes are revised to respond to changing tastes. 50% of the assortment is made up of fresh products, 65 items are of Belgian origin and 1.000 are exclusive.
All but three of the stores are currently run by independent entrepreneurs, but will be acquired and integrated by Colruyt Group, which will keep the stores' workforce and operational identity intact. From June, Delitraiteur will be consolidated into the group's accounts.
Colruyt is thus strengthening its convenience hub, combining Delitraiteur with other initiatives such as the Okay Direct stores open 24 hours a day, the Okay City urban expansion project and the Sunday opening of all Okay stores.
