On the occasion of the World Day dedicated to Biodiversity, FederBio underlines the importance of organic farming for the protection of natural habitats and ecosystem services, placing biodiversity stories at the center of the second day of the Festa del BIO and Anteprima Terra Madre, the event promoted together with Slow Food Italia.
On Sunday 26 May, from 10.45 am at the MAXXI in Rome, some organic farmers from Lazio will talk about the virtuous exchange that exists between nature and organic agriculture, in the dialogue “Stories of Biodiversity. Bio Speaks"With Fabio Actor, scientific director of theBotanical Garden Romano, among the largest in Italy. They will share their daily experiences to combat climate change, diseases and other environmental stresses, but also the importance of re-evaluating ancient varieties that would otherwise risk disappearing.
Stories of resilience and love, of those who have chosen a holistic approach that integrates natural agricultural practices. Like that of Capodarco Cooperative, an example pioneer of social agriculture in Italy, which for over 46 years has promoted a sustainable and supportive economy, which has as its objectives the compliance of the environment, the centrality of people and the inclusion of the most vulnerable. Salvatore Stingo, the President of the Cooperative, emphasizes how working the land represents a way to integrate into society; while the natural vocation for organic is fundamental to protect ecosystems.
