Saclà obtains B Corp certification, confirming its commitment to a sustainable and responsible future, with innovative initiatives in favor of the community, the environment and employees
Saclà, a historic Italian food company with 85 years of tradition, obtained the status of Benefit Company, integrating the commitment to a positive impact on people, customers, the environment and the community within the company statute. Subsequently, it received the B Corp certification from B Lab Italia, which attested to its sustainable and transparent practices. The B Corp certification evaluates the social and environmental impact in five areas: governance, workers, community, environment and customers.
Actions that led to the certification include integrating sustainability into management objectives, local investments such as the Asti sewer system, and corporate welfare initiatives such as flexible hours and healthcare benefits. Saclà UK has also been recognized for the second consecutive year by Sunday Times as “Best Place to Work 2024”.
From an environmental perspective, Saclà has obtained EMAS and ISO14001 certifications, reducing energy consumption by over 20%, with further improvements expected thanks to the transfer of production to the new plant in Castello d'Annone. Furthermore, the company promotes healthy eating, offering high-quality products with a positive social and environmental impact.
All these activities have been collected in the content hub #ThanksPlanet, which represents the natural evolution of a company strongly rooted in the territory, with a constant commitment to sustainability and ethics. Chiara Ercole, CEO of Saclà, stated that obtaining the B Corp certification represents an important milestone, but also a starting point to continue improving.
