Aldi, part of the Aldi SÜD group, confirms for the fourth consecutive year its participation in the “Fairtrade Weeks”, an event of Fairtrade Italia dedicated to the promotion of certified and sustainable products. From 7 to 20 October, in all Aldi Italia stores, the aim will be to raise awareness among customers on the importance of responsible purchasing choices, in support of fair trade, guaranteeing better living conditions in developing countries.

The partnership with Fairtrade demonstrates Aldi's commitment to the well-being of people and the environment. Buying Fairtrade certified products supports fair trade, promoting decent incomes, environmental protection and respect for workers' rights, as well as the fight against climate change.

For the 2024 edition of the “Fairtrade Weeks”, Aldi presents a selection of certified products, in line with its commitment to a responsible supply chain. Among these, the Moser Roth chocolate bars stand out, in the 64% Peru, 70% Dominican Republic, 74% Ecuador and 80% Uganda variants, in addition to the organic line with 85% dark chocolate, almond and raspberry flavours. The fair trade assortment also includes Happy Harvest cane sugar, Bio Natura organic bananas, Fairtrade roses, chocolate lollipops and mini-bars from the Halloween line.

“Concretely supporting producers in developing countries is a collective goal of absolute importance in which we strongly believe. Part of our mission has always been to improve the living standards of producers by helping them enter the commercial system in conditions of transparency and fairness. For this reason, we are constantly committed alongside Fairtrade Italia to raise awareness among consumers and invite them to purchase certified and fair trade products such as Fairtrade ones” says Michael Gscheidlinger, Country Managing Director ALDI Italy.

Support for the “Fairtrade Weeks” is part of the “Today for Tomorrow” initiative, Aldi’s Corporate Responsibility strategy for a sustainable future for the environment and society. Aldi adopts sustainable purchasing practices, with the aim of making the supply chain transparent, raising awareness among consumers and defending the human rights of workers. The company works with various partners, including suppliers, manufacturers and NGOs, to improve living and working conditions, guarantee fair wages, support women’s empowerment and fight child labor.
